I have been painting for over 25 years, and fishing for even longer. My fish profiles marry my passion for these two great loves. In 2001 I began the process of creating fish profiles of my favorite sports fish. These paintings/sculptures are based on the old tradition of fish profiles, common in the UK in the 19th century. However, I paint my images to capture the personality of each of these fish.
These fish profiles are made out of the best material available. I use clear western red cedar boards, 2” thick (before finishing) as a foundation. These are then finished, and hand painted using artist quality acrylic paints. They can be hung indoors or out, although exposed to the elements will result in some change in color as the wood ages to a natural silver under the paint.
Each fish profile is between 4’ and 6’ long.
